6.- SURFACE WATER.
Apart from rivers, oceans and seas, we can find other surface water.
Lakes: water surrounded by land. Most are fresh water. Precipitation, rivers and groundwater fill these lakes.
Lagoons: They are like small lakes. They are separated from the sea or other lakes by a barrier. Sand bars, coral reefs or islands can be barriers.
Wetlands: Areas of land covered by shallow water. These form marshes, where a lot of wildlife can live
Reservoirs: They are artificial lakes. Humans make Dams to create a reservoir for drinking, making electricity or irrigating crops.
